I always loved learning at school. I wanted to be that wonderful teacher the children always remember! I first came to Windsor Park as a volunteer while still at university, helping children to read, and joined the staff immediately after completing my PGCE. There’s a real feeling of family here and the sense of support is unbelievable. We’re constantly sharing ideas, we have whole-Trust training days – and if I want to get some other training, I know I’ll be able to do it. It’s a lovely place to be.

I’ve been a primary teacher in various places for 15 years. I moved here because I could see it was a fantastic opportunity, helping to create a brand new school. I just love the Trust’s slogan of ‘inspired teaching, inspiring children’. The inspiration applies to the staff too – we’re all on the same learning journey. The togetherness here is very strong. We support each other across the Trust, and staff development and wellbeing are a high priority. I really enjoy working here.

All my teaching career has been within Uttoxeter Learning Trust. After several years an art teacher at Thomas Alleyne’s High School, I moved to lead the art department at Oldfields. I’m now also progress manager for Year 5 and have leadership qualifications, so there are real opportunities to progress. Relationships across the Trust are strong. We support each other and have meetings to share good practice. I also take year 8 students to photography workshops at Thomas Alleyne’s, which helps to bridge the gap between middle and high schools. We’re part of a tight-knit family. I love being able to make a difference every day.

Victoria Watson

I was actually a student at Windsor Park and I loved it! I came back because I wanted to make a difference for children who don’t find it easy. I started volunteering, then joined the staff. It was exceptional when I first started. I was able to have a go at anything, which grew my confidence. The school funded my teaching assistant apprenticeship and now I manage cover for the English department. I’m in the classroom more often than not! I also organise weekly visits by Mia our reading dog. She sits with the children and has really helped those who find reading and school a challenge. I love my job and the fact I’m making a difference. We all want the best for the children. They come first.
